Backup Manager


The Backup Manager is a window that displays a list of backup files that have been created from the application's database. You can remove old backups, create a new backup or restore the database to an earlier state from the Backup Manager.

Name

1. Name
The Name column displays the names given to backup files when they are created. All backup files are named automatically by the application using the current time stamp and the type of backup created. Automatic backups will begin with "auto", manual backups will begin with "manual", and backups created during a restore operation will begin with "pre-restore".

Description

2. Description
The Description column displays the backup type. Three different descriptions are given to backup files.
 
1. Automatic Backup
Created automatically when the program exits if automatic backups are enabled.
2. Manual Backup
Created by user.
3. Pre-Restore Backup
Created prior to a restore operation allowing you to revert back later.

Backup Date

3. Backup Date
The Backup Date column displays the date and time that each backup was created.

Restore

4. Restore
The Restore button is enabled anytime a backup from the list is selected. To restore the application database to an earlier state, select the a backup from the list that you would like to restore to and press the Restore button. The current database state will be saved to backup prior to the restore operation incase you wish to revert back later.

Remove

5. Remove
The Remove button is enabled anytime a backup from the list is selected. To remove a backup from the list, first select it and then press the Remove button. When a backup is removed from the list it is placed in the Windows Recycle Bin so that it can be retrieved later if necessary.

Create

6. Create
To create a new backup from the Backup Manager simply press the Create button and a new backup with the current time stamp will be added to the list.

Close

7. Close
To close the Backup Manager press the Close button or press the Esc key on your keyboard.
