Loading Cubical Maps into TurboCAD
Once a cubical map has been
exported to a .dat file, it's ready to be loaded into TurboCAD. After it has been loaded into TurboCAD it will represented as an
Environment in the Environments Palette. This process is very simple. From the Main Menu in TurboCAD select
Options →
Environments →
Load Environments... (figure 1).

TurboCAD will open the Load Environments From File window which will automatically open to TurboCAD's default RenderSceneEnv data folder. This is where TurboCAD stores the data and thumbnail images for the Render Scene Environments that you see in the Environments Palette. The sceneenv.dat file that you'll see here, is the Render Scene Environments database (figure 2).
We want to load the "My Cubical Map" export that we created in the
Exporting Cubical Maps section. By default, this file was saved to your desktop in a folder named "Cubical Maps". Browse to that folder using the
Load Environments From File window that TurboCAD has opened. Once you've located the "Cubical Maps" folder on your desktop you'll see the "My Cubical Map.dat" exported file inside. Hover your cursor over the "My Cubical Map.dat" file and and you'll see it's contents appear on the right side of the window under the
Environment: title (figure 3). Notice the contents show "My Cubical Map" under the category "My Category". This is the same structure you used in the Navigation Tree when creating your cubical map. Click the
Open button and TurboCAD will load your data into the Render Scene Environments database.
